Sometimes we pick up a rock and take it home. Other times we take a photo.

In the image “going for a jog”, the American Commando saved an image of his jogging path the day after a deadly mission.
He saved the image because that point-in-time meant something.
Maybe he saved the image while “reflecting an unconscious search for stability or permanence”
More than a decade later the soldier modified the image to depict his memory.
The physical interpretation of this image masks the areas the jogger was not focused on (sky, the dirt, and the fence).
One area of focus is the pile of broken plane parts from another conflict.
The other is the rough road ahead with an obstruction to the view of where the road leads to.
